There are four colors currently available:

Black, Red, Emerald Green, Light Cream and Purple. Our standard "V" section is usually white.

We do offer a custom colored "V" option which is $20.00 extra.

A solid color top with matching "V" is $50 extra.

The Inside of the Komet Amplifier.

Piping is used to conceal every joint in the covering material, creating a seamless appearance.

The back panel grill is made from industrial perforated stainless steel. Note the machine screws securing the back panel. They go into threaded metal inserts in the head box eliminating "stripping", that is commonly found with wood screws.

The impedance selector allows the user to operate the Komet™ with either 4 Ohm, 8 Ohm, or 16 Ohm speaker loads. The bias test points accept standard volt meter tips. This facilitates monitoring the output tube bias range without having to open the amplifier.

Touch Response™: This Trainwreck Engineered™ circuit enables the musician to alter the touch response characteristics of their amplifier to suit their playing style. A simple flick of a switch lets you choose between a gradual or fast response to your picking dynamics and guitar's volume control settings. The Touch Response™ circuit is not an extra gain stage or gain boost circuit. Instead it works by magnifying subtle changes in pick or finger attack along with subtle changes in guitar volume.

This circuit allows a clean player to run the full range of dynamics without breaking into unwanted distortion. A blues player can play on the edge of distortion easily going from clean to blues overdrive using pick attack as the controlling factor. An over the top player can go from clean to scorch using the fast setting. The slightest change in pick attack or guitar volume setting will translate to huge changes in dynamics and power. To sum up, the Touch Response™ circuit lets you choose the response and feel you want and makes your amplifier capable of playing every style of music.

The controls on the front panel are simple and intuitive. Volume, followed by a standard 3-band EQ, a presence control and a high cut control. The high cut control works in conjunction with the power section of the amplifier. This control will allow the user to darken the overall tone of the amp without affecting the equalization of the preamp section. The Hi Cut control solves the common problem of losing gain and clarity as the treble control lowered in the preamp.

Bias Control: A precision 10-turn dial with a scale from 1 to 100. It has a brake lever to lock it in place. The bias dial allows the user to swtich between different sets of tubes without having to use a meter to set the bias each time. Once you have found your favorite bias setting (for a particular set of tubes using a digital volt meter), make a note of the dial setting. Everytime you use that particular set of tubes, simply set the dial to the predetermined number.

Bias Pot: A presicion wound 10-turn pot for a lifetime of troublefree service. This picture also shows the silver plated Teflon wire used throughout the amp. Note the stainless steel screws and nylock nuts, which prevent loosening due to vibration. The tube sockets are ceramic with gold plated contacts.

The tag board, carrying the components, is made from 1/8th inch thick fiberglass. Tone and coupling caps are american made Mallory brand. The carbon film resistors are 1-watt types throughout the amp.

Filter capacitors are American made Mallory brand for maximum reliablity and tonal response. All power supply resistors that do not carry an audio signal are metal film types.

Impedance Selector: Heavy duty American made Ohmite switch, which is rated at several times the required power handling capability.

Fully sealed Clarostat 2-watt controls with stainless steel housings.

The power and standby switches are rated at almost 10 times the required power handling capability for maximum reliability. A metal oxide varistor protects the amp from spikes in the line voltage.

The chassis is made from 1/8th inch aluminum with welded corners for maximum strength. The proprietary transformers are custom wound and specifically designed for the Komet™ amp. They are substantially overdesigned for cool and contiunous operation.

Construction of the Komet™ Amplifier.

The Komet™ is an all tube amplifier that is completely built by hand. At Komet™ Amplification, we do not use any pre-manufactured parts - there are no printed circuit boards, generic chassis' or flimsy ribbon cable.

The Komet's™ chassis is welded from 1/8" aircraft-grade aluminum for strength, electrical conductivity and non-magnetic properties. Because of its construction and dimensions, problems sometimes associated with this material such as stress cracks and bending, are completely eliminated.

Ceramic tube sockets with gold plated contacts are bolted to the chassis with stainless steel screws.

The component board is made from 1/8" glass epoxy and hand wired using silver plated Teflon® wire.

The potentiometers are completely sealed with stainless steel housings. We use 2 Watt types (0.5 watt is usually standard) for a lifetime of trouble free performance.

All electric components in the Komet™ have been carefully selected for their specific performance. The choice of manufacturers and types of components is neither random, nor dictated by price or availablity.
